Achieve naturally plump lips

Plump kissable lips without visiting the doc? Yes please! Avoid a fake trout pout and try out these tips for naturally luscious lips.

Brush your lips

After you’ve brushed your teeth, why not try brushing your lips? This may sound strange but brushing your toothbrush over your lips helps to promotes circulation while gently exfoliating. This results in soft, full lips. You can even try adding a dab of honey to your toothbrush before brushing. This helps to moisturise and hydrate further achieving a fuller appearance. Alternatively, exfoliating your lips with a mixture of coconut oil and sugar has a similar effect.


Add oils to your lip balm

Cinnamon, peppermint or cayenne pepper oils promote blood circulation when applied to your lips. The increased blood flow makes lips appear fuller and rosier. Simply add one drop of the oil to unscented natural lip balm and apply to your lips. You may feel a slight tingling sensation which is a good sign that its working! A word of warning, be careful with the cayenne pepper oil, using too much can be extremely uncomfortable!


Mint leaves

Crush mint leaves and rub them over your lips. As with adding oil to your lip balm, this stimulates capillaries in the lips promoting blood flow to the area. The natural properties in mint will cause the lips to swell slightly while releasing a lovely scent.


Lip exercises

As exercising your body helps to tone and define muscles, exercising your lips makes them fuller! Toning up facial muscles takes time so you will need to be consistent and patient in order to get the best results.  How do you exercise your lips exactly? Try these:

  • Whistle – whistle along to the radio or your favourite song each day.

  • Lip laps – pout your lips firmly then move them side to side holding each position for 5 seconds or longer. Try doing this for 1 whole minute. Relax then pout again and try circling your lips for 10 laps in one direction, then in the other direction. You may want to do this one in private, it can look a tad unusual!

  • Smile & pout – keep your lips closed and smile, hold for 10+ seconds then pout your lips as hard as you can. Try holding this for 10+ seconds also. Keep repeating the smile and pout setting yourself goals each day such as 10 or 20 repetitions.


Drink water!

Hydration is important and key in achieving naturally plump lips. The cells in your lips swell when they are hydrated helping you get that full look. Your lips will also have a nice pink colour to them in you’re well hydrated.
