The doctor won’t see you now

The doctor won’t see you now

Less than one eighth of visits to family doctors include advice about nutrition, a poll from the US has found. What’s more worrying, is that less than 25% of doctors say they have sufficient training to advise patients at all.

According to the poll, most doctors in the US don’t receive adequate training to advise patients about nutrition and fewer than 30% of medical colleges fall short of the recommended teaching hours on this subject.

Doctors everywhere, not just in the US, need to be knowledgeable about nutrition to help their patients. The media has a huge influence on what we eat, but often gets it wrong. If doctors are knowledgeable on the subject, then people will be more likely to follow their advice rather than misleading news articles.
