Facebook for weight loss

A study from a California university found that students respond positively to weight loss programmes delivered on Facebook. Over 400 students were randomly chosen to take part in the study and the results showed that 73% of the Facebook posts delivered were ‘liked’ at least once by the 68% of the students.

Weight gain during university and college is commonplace and with 1.2 billion monthly active users, posting weight loss advice and motivational posts on the second most popular website in the world (behind Google), could be key to targeting young people about their health.
