The deadly white stuff

There’s been much press recently about the dangers of too much sugar in the diet. Surprisingly, much of this sugar is found in products marketed as ‘healthy options’.

Fruit juice and smoothies are often the biggest culprits – certain drinks containing up to 13 tsp of sugar! What’s the solution? Nutritionists suggest always eating your fruit rather than drinking it. If you’re having a fruit drink, dilute it 50/50 with water or sparkling water. And get used to checking labels – if sugar is in the top three ingredients (they’re listed in order of quantity), put it down!
