Beat dry winter skin

It’s a well-known fact that cold wind and chilly weather make our skin very dry and itchy, and sometimes even inflamed. And we all know how unpleasant that feels. So what can we do to protect it from the adverse weather conditions?

Choose skin products wisely

Try to avoid harsh skin products that further dry your skin such as soap and alcohol-based products. Use a gentle cleanser that won’t make your skin dry and then apply a good-quality moisturiser (better oil-based than water-based). It will create a protective layer on the skin that retains more moisture than any face cream or lotion.

Eat for healthy skin

Eat foods rich in omega fatty acids such as oily fish and avocado. Choose foods that are rich in antioxidants as they all keep your skin healthy by helping the membrane of your skin to keep water and nutrients for longer and pass out waste products more easily.

Hydrate!

Hydrate often! During the winter we often reduce our water intake, but hydration is just as important as ever in winter, especially for our skin. Keep a water bottle with you at all times to remind you to keep up your intake. Further hydrate your skin by moisterising at least a few times a day and after washing, especially if you are exposed to severe weather!
